Motorola Shamu specifications revealed?

GFXBench benchmark for Motorola ShamuWhen the Motorola Shamu popped up on GFXBench yesterday, the usual specifications that came with the benchmarking results were unfortunately missing. Based on the information available, we guessed that it would pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and a Full HD display. A day later, the specifications have appeared and we have a much better idea of what kind of device it could be. And it promises to be much more of a flagship Nexus device than initially thought.

Here is what GFXBench tells us about the Motorola Shamu specifications:

  • Processor: 2.6GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 with Adreno 420 GPU
  • Operating system: Google Android L
  • Other connectivity: GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC
  • Display: 5.2-inch WQHD (2560×1440)
  • RAM: 3GB
  • Internal storage: 32GB (24GB free)
  • External storage:
  • Rear-facing camera: 12MP AF with flash and 4K video capture
  • Front-facing camera: 2MP
  • Sensors: Accelerometer, barometer, compass, gyroscope, ambient light, pedometer, proximity

Rather than the 5.9-inch display rumoured in the past, the Motorola Shamu now appears to sport a smaller 5.2-inch one albeit offering a WQHD resolution. The other specifications also suggest that it will be able to stand up right next to other flagship devices of the season.

At this point, we expect that Google will announce both a Google Nexus 6 smartphone, none other the Motorola Shamu, and the HTC-built Google Nexus 9 tablet alongside Android L sometime this fall.
