New details emerge about Google Nexus 9 tablet

Rumoured Google Nexus 9

It’s been quiet on the Google Nexus front for a while but that changed today with new details emerging about the upcoming Google Nexus 9 tablet.

First up is the device’s certification at the hands of South Korea’s Radio Research Agency (RRA), that country’s equivalent of the FCC in the U.S. Very little is revealed but the model number listed, 0P8210000, is the same as the one revealed by @evleaks back in late June in reference to the HTC Volantis.

RRA listing for HTC 0P82100

While the RRA provides little more than this, @UpLeaks provides a few more details about a device codenamed the HTC T1. It so happens that this name has also been attributed to the HTC-built Nexus 9. As for specifications, we can expect the HTC T1 to come with a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor, Android L, an Intel MDM9x25 model on the LTE model, 4GB of RAM, GPS, NFC, an 8MP camera with Sony IMX219 sensor and a front 1.6MP camera.

These details do not quite line up with those of an earlier rumour. For example, it comes with twice the amount of RAM as initially reported. It’s quite possible that HTC is still in the process of locking down some of these details.

With Android L expected to launch this fall, it is likely that Google will have new Nexus devices as well (especially as it now looks like the Nexus program is not going away after all). It does appear that the HTC-built Google Nexus 9 will indeed be one of those.

Has there ever been a device with more alleged codenames? T1, Volantis, Flounder, etc…
