Samsung GT-I9405 revealed by shipping documents

Samsung GT-I9405 shipment noticesIndia’s Zauba import and export shipment tracking database continues to be a treasure trove when it comes to unannounced Samsung devices. After having revealed devices such as the SM-T900 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo (SM-N750x) , the latest to pop up is the Samsung GT-I9405 smartphone. As usual, details are slim but the GT-I9405 is revealed to be a 5.5-inch smartphone with a single SIM.

With little to go on, we can still rule out a few possibilities. Based on the model number, it would appear to be a Galaxy-branded device that will slot in below the Galaxy S4 (model number GT-I950x) but with better specifications than the older Samsung Galaxy S III (GT-I930x). Given that all Note models have so far sported model numbers starting with an N, we can rule out that it will come with Samsung’s S Pen technology.

Samsung also appears to be reusing older model numbers. We caught wind of a GT-I9400 back in late 2012. Speculation at the time suggested that it could be the Samsung Galaxy Grand. With Samsung having just unveiled the Galaxy Grand 2 back in November, it’s too early for a Galaxy Grand 3 though.

Could the Samsung GT-I9405 be a new Galaxy Mega device? Samsung first introduced the Galaxy Mega line last April with two models, a 6.3-inch one and a 5.8-inch one. It may well be time to refresh the line although devices with larger displays would be expected.

Perhaps all will be revealed when Samsung holds its next Unpacked event in mid-March
