Sony Mobile may finally be getting ready to announce an international version of the smaller sibling to the Xperia Z1. Expected to be an international variant of the Xperia Z1 f that Sony announced in Japan back in October, the Sony Xperia Z1S or Xperia Z1 Mini could finally be unveiled on January 14 if a teaser image that appeared on Sony’s Chinese website is any indication.
While the image reveals little except the date, there is still a strong connection to the Xperia Z1 f. Below is one of the official images from the Sony Xperia Z1 f launch. Notice how the colours match up nicely with the ones on the invitation above. Granted it’s not much to go on but that’s what teaser images are all about, right?
The teaser only shows up on Sony’s Chinese website at this point. Could Sony unveil the Xperia Z1S at CES next week and hold a separate event for China a week later? Or will China be the first country in a staggered rollout across the world? Your guess is as good as ours at this point.
In terms of specifications, the Sony Xperia Z1S is expected to be very similar to the Xperia Z1 except that it will sport a smaller 4.3-inch HD (720×1280) display and a 2,300mAh battery. It is expected to keep the 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage and the 20.7MP rear camera with 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS CMOS sensor and G-Lens.
