Square this week announced that its Square Reader, the credit card reader that works with mobile devices, is now available at 440 Shoppers Drug Mart stores across Canada. It first launched in Canada in October 2012 and can now be found across a range of Canadian retailers. A full $10 rebate is also included. This announcement makes it even easier for merchants to pick up a Square Reader and start to securely accept credit cards in a short amount of time.
Once plugged into the headphone jack of a iOS and Android device, the Square Reader enables anyone to accept credit card payments, including American Express, MasterCard and Visa. It also comes with a full CA$10 rebate and a free point of sale software. Square charges a 2.75% transaction rate per swipe with funds typically being available the next business day.
If your shopping does not take you to a Shoppers Drug Mart any time soon, the Square Reader is also available at Apple, Best Buy, Future Shop, London Drugs, and Staples.
