HTCHTC today announced at CES 2015 a new strategic partnership whereby it will collaborate with Under Armour to develop a new line of health and fitness-focused mobile devices that will use the new UA Record health and fitness app and services. The two companies want to be “the pioneers in mobile innovation and athletic performance collaborate to empower athletes everywhere.”

Peter Chou, CEO, HTC commented, “Mobile innovation has completely changed people’s lives in recent years, making us more connected to our world than ever before. Now we want to help people be better connected with themselves, helping them to achieve their goals and gain deeper insight into their own lives to become the best they can be. By joining forces with Under Armour, one of today’s most exciting and ambitious leaders in empowering athletes, we are taking the first step on this journey and will provide consumers with a range of connected health and fitness products and services that no other brand can match.”

No specific products were announced today but HTC promised that they will soon announce their first product to integrate UA Record. Could an announcement come at MWC 2015? More should follow later in the year.

UA Record comes not only tracks your personal health data with a variety of fitness tracking tools (such as MapMyRun and MapMyRide) but it also connects you to connect with up to 20 friends to compete in a variety of challenges. It also gives you access to a range of content including videos, nutrition information, training methodologies and injury prevention.
