The latest installment of the Star Wars saga is less than 100 days away. We’ve already seen Nixon announce a line of new Star Wars watches. It unveiled the limited edition Nixon Ranger Imperial Pilot and Stormtrooper at Comic-Con back in July with more models to come later this year. But if your tastes in Star Wars merchandise run to the more exclusive, Devon Works this week announced that it is now taking pre-orders for the limited edition Star Wars watch.

Like the iconic film series, the bold new Star Wars | Devon co-branded watch – with patented system of interwoven Time Belts™ and hybrid electro-mechanical power — embodies the pioneering spirit of the original film and is designed to capture the adventure, hope and enthusiasm of the legendary series.
Based on the Devon Thread 1, the Devon Star Wars is inspired by Darth Vader, one of the most iconic villains of cinema, and his personal Tie Fighter. “We knew immediately that we had to incorporate Darth Vader into the design. He is not just one of the most iconic Star Wars characters, but he is also represents an impressive display of man interfacing with machine, ” explains Scott Devon, founder and creative director of Devon Works.
The case is stainless steel finished with an all black DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon Coating). The sides of the case feature the wings of Vader’s Tie Fighter while the screws that connect the case and lugs look like aircraft engine turbine intakes finished with pointed silver screws like the ones on Darth Vader’s helmet. The crown features the Galactic Empire logo.
Like the Devon Thread 1, the Devon Star Wars watch uses a printed belt mechanism to display the time instead of the more traditional hands. The four motor covers use the same red and green found on Darth Vader’s center console. The central hexagonal disk that shows the time also sports TIE Fighter inscriptions while the leather strap is ribbed the same way Darth Vader’s gloves are. Measuring 61.2 millimeters wide by 66.3 millimeters high and 22.1 millimeters thick, this is a watch with the same impressive stature as Darth Vader himself.
The Star Wars by Devon watch is equally impressive under the hood. It features four glass-reinforced nylon belts with multiple high-tech optical recognition cells, four micro-step motors, and 313 electrical contacts. The lithium-polymer battery is recharged wirelessly through an inductive charging tower.
Only 500 Star Wars by Devon watches will be built over the next two years. Each will come with a pair of TIE Fighter cuff links and a specially built box inspired by Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter. Each sells for US$28,500.00 with a US$2,500 non-refundable down payment required at pre-order time. It will go on sale in October through authorized Devon retailers in the U.S. and on Amazon.com.
