Misfit debuts improved Misfit Shine 2 activity tracker

Misfit Shine 2Misfit launched its Misfit Shine about two years ago. The wearables space was far less crowded back then but the Misfit stood out even then thanks to a rather unique design. The company today unveiled the Misfit 2, a new “thinner, stronger, smarter” successor.

The Shine 2 comes with upgraded hardware and firmware. It promises better activity and sleep tracking thanks to the addition of a 3-axis magnetometer working alongside a 3-axis accelerometer. A new features called Misfit Move also encourages you to be active thanks to vibrational nudges. It also supports text and call notifications and a silent vibe alarm. 12 LEDs provide goal progress and can tell time “in a halo of rainbow-colored lights.”

While modular like its predecessor, it is slightly larger and thinner, making it incompatible with accessories designed for the original Misfit. Instead, it will come with its own sport band, clasp, and action clip with more accessories to come later.
