Verizon Wireless announces LG GizmoGadget and GizmoPal 2

LG GizmoPal 2 and GizmoGadgetVerizon Wireless has announced two new kid-friendly wearables, the LG GizmoGadget and GizmoPal 2 geared at making it easier for parents to stay in touch with their children and know where they are at all times. Both promise to “look as cool as the smartwatches that mom and dad have, but available in multiple fun colors and designed just for kids.”

Available in pink or light blue, the LG GizmoPal is the successor to the original GizmoPal. Once again geared at younger kids, it adds multiple LED lights to indicate that a call or message is coming in but does not include a display as first thought. A built-in voice recorder lets kids record and play back their voice with “fun effects.” The face can also be decorated with stickers.

Available in Red or Navy, the LG GizmoGadget builds on the GizmoPal 2 by adding a 1.3-inch color touchscreen display for a “more immersive experience.” It can send both pre-recorded messages and emojis as well as two-way calling with up to 10 contacts. It also comes with a pedometer and jump rope counter “to encourage exercise.”

Both devices come with GPS tracking, allowing parents to know precisely where their kids are at all times. Parents can also set GPS boundaries with real-time notifications should they be exceeded.

The LG GizmoPal 2 and GizmoGadget are available through Verizon Wireless starting today. The GizmoPal 2 sells for US$79.99 and the GizmoGadet for US$149.99. Both require a US$5 monthly access fee.
