Acer to unveil gaming Predator smartwatch at IFA 2016?

Acer Predator logoIFA 2016, one of the largest consumer electronics trade show, is just around the corner. It has become a key event for manufacturers unveiling new devices for the fall and holiday shopping seasons. New wearables expected to be unveiled at this year’s event include the Samsung Gear S3, ASUS ZenWatch 3 and new Moto 360 smartwatches from Lenovo among others. If China’s Economic Daily News (EDN) is to be believed, Acer will also unveil new wearables.

The report indicates that Acer will announce two new wearables. The first is described as a high-end smartwatch geared at the gaming market. The second is simply described as a “new smart wearable device.”

Acer’s Predator line of gaming-focused devices already includes everything from desktops and notebooks to tablets and monitors as well as various accessories. There’s even an Acer Predator smartphone. While a Predator smartwatch is not implausible, exactly what it would offer gamers is not as easy. With limited screen real estate, it may focus on social media aspects of certain games rather than offering a pure gaming experience.

The new devices will not be Acer’s first wearables. The company recently partnered with Switzerland’s Victorinox on the Victorinox Swiss Army I.N.O.X. Cybertool.
