Fitbit Alta and Fitbit Blaze shipments top 1 million each in first month

Fitbit AltaFitbit unveiled its latest wearables, the Fitbit Blaze and Fitbit Alta, earlier this year. It today announced that both are off to strong starts with shipments topping a million units for each device in the first month of availability. Both devices are also among the bestselling devices in their respective categories on Amazon.com. Both have also garnered strong reviews on the online shopping site.

“At Fitbit, we continue to focus on developing innovative and motivating fitness-first products that our customers love and that help them achieve their health and fitness goals,” said Woody Scal, Chief Business Officer of Fitbit. “The positive response we’ve received to Blaze and Alta demonstrates our continued ability to innovate and drive strong demand for Fitbit® products, which is what has made and kept us the leader in the global wearables category.”

Fitbit Blaze

The Fitbit Blaze smart fitness watch was launched at CES 2016. Billed as Fitbit’s “smartest, most stylish, most motivating fitness tracker yet,” it is as close as the company has gotten to a smartwatch yet. It offers all of the usual Fitbit fitness tracking capabilities as well as features typically found on a smartwatch like offering a range of notifications, music playback controls and a variety of watch faces.

Fitbit Alta

The Fitbit Alta was announced in early February. It is a more fashionable fitness tracker thanks to a satin finish, stainless steel body that can be paired with a range of interchangeable bands available in different colours and premium materials.

The Fitbit Blaze is now on sale in a range of colours for US$199 (CA$249) along with a range of interchangeable straps that range in price from US$29.95 (CA$39.95) to US$129.95 (CA$179.95).

The Fitbit Alta sells for US$129.95 (CA$169.95) with additional bands selling for between US$29.95 (CA$39.95) and US$99.95 (CA$139.95) depending on the material.
