It appears that the Samsung Gear S3 rumour mill is winding up. Following last week’s report that Samsung was working on a new smartwatch codenamed Solis, Tizen Cafe has now posted images of what it claims is the Samsung Gear S3.
The two overexposed images show a round smartwatch with a fluted bezel and a metal bracelet. They are so washed out that little more can be ascertained. As SamMobile points out, this smartwatch appears to have more in common with a Rolex Datejust 36 (pictured below) than its purported predecessor, the Gear S2. The words ‘Gear S3’ appear next to each watch.
Tizen Cafe also suggests in a separate tweet that the Solis smartwatch will indeed set to launch as the Samsung Gear S3.
As for the Samsung Solis, early indications are that it will be another round-faced smartwatch powered by Tizen. It appears that a few models are planned, including some carrier-exclusive ones. Recent rumours suggested that a Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch will be announced at IFA 2016 in September. A high-end model developed in partnership with Swiss luxury jeweler de Grisogono could follow at next year’s Baselworld 2017.
