Google Nexus 9 scores Wi-Fi certification

Wi-Fi certification for HTC 0P8210000 It appears today that the Google Nexus 9 tablet is one step closer to its launch. An HTC tablet identified as 0P8210000 received its Wi-Fi certification earlier this month courtesy of the Wi-Fi Alliance. It so happens that the 0P8210000 model number has been tied to the HTC Volantis and Google Flounder in the past. Both are said to be codenames for the upcoming Google Nexus 9.

Further confiirming that the HTC 0P8210000 is none other than Google’s next Nexus tablet, the firmware version contains the words “aosp_flounder.”

The certification document also reveals a few specification details. It shows that the Google Nexus 9 will come with Android L as well as dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi. It also suggests that more than one model will be available. It could well be that the 0P8220000 and 0P8230000 models will be variants with cellular connectivity.

Recent rumours have suggested that the Google Nexus 9 will come with a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor, Android L, an Intel MDM9x25 model on the LTE model, 4GB of RAM, GPS, NFC, an 8MP camera with Sony IMX219 sensor and a front 1.6MP camera.

As for a launch, we expect the Google Nexus 9 to launch when Android L is ready for general release sometime this fall. It could be accompanied by the Google Nexus 6 smartphone.
