Pre-production Moto X+1 poses for the camera

Rumoured Moto X+1Hints, leaks and rumours about the Moto X+1 have been with us for months. With the Moto X having been announced nearly a year ago, it’s likely that its successor is not far. New details obtained by AndroidPolice are the latest to suggest that this is indeed the case. They have obtained a series of photos of what is billed as a “near-final prototype” of the Moto X+1.

The photos show a device very similar to the Moto X in terms of overall shape. Its wooden back suggests that it will once again be customizable (in certain markets at least). There are a number of differences as well. The camera appears to sport a dual-LED flash and there is a large Motorola logo beneath. The photos show it in plastic but perhaps the final design will have one that glows to provide notifications. Unlike the Moto X, the Moto X+1 will also sport a bit of metal, namely a segmented ring of aluminium on the sides.

The source of the pictures also confirmed an earlier rumour that there will be leather options for the non-removeable back plates. It will also reportedly have a larger 5.1-inch display with the capacitive buttons making way for a Moto E-styled bottom speaker.

The report makes no mention of any new specification details but recent rumours have suggested that the Moto X+1 will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage, a microSD card slot (which does not appear anywhere on these latest pictures), a 12MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera and a 2,900mAh battery.

Motorola is expected to unveil the Moto X+1 later this summer. It could do so at the same time as the Moto 360 smartwatch.
