Sony Sirius and Xperia Z2 are one and the same?

SonyThe Sony Xperia Z2 is once again the topic of rumours. It first surfaced back in mid-September as a “minor update” to the Xperia Z1. At the time, it was reported that it would come with a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974AB) processor, a 5.2-inch Full HD TRILUMINOS display, 3GB of RAM and a rear-facing camera: 20.7MP with 4K video recording. Similar specifications then resurfaced on a device codenamed Sirius as 2013 wrapped up. AndroidSaS now reports that “a very reliable source” has confirmed that the Sony Sirius and Sony Xperia Z2 are one and the same.

The report adds that the Sony Xperia Z2 (model number C770x) will come with a 5.2-inch WQHD (2560×1440) display with Mobile Bravia Engine 3 rather than a Full HD one. That would certainly explain earlier reports of a display offering 506 pixels per inch. Also on tap are a 20.7MP camera (the same as on the Xperia Z1?),  and a larger 3,700mAh battery (also larger than past rumours suggested). Like its predecessor, the Sony Xperia Z2 will also be waterproof.

This latest report makes no mention of a leaked image of the Xperia Z2 that surfaced back in September. Whether it is the only image to date of the Xperia Z2 will have to remain the topic of debate for now.
