Huawei Watch launch in U.S. imminent?

Huawei WatchThe Huawei Watch generated a lot of buzz when it was unveiled at Mobile World Congress earlier this year. Unfortunately, it has yet to launch and Huawei has been quiet about launch dates. It now appears that the marketing machine is ramping up in preparation for an imminent launch in the U.S. (and hopefully other markets).

The Huawei Watch has now appeared on the company’s North American website. It promises that “It’s right round the corner” and invites you to sign up to receive “the latest news and updates about the Huawei Watch.” Unfortunately, there are no other details yet.

Rumours back in June suggested that Huawei had had to delay the launch of its smartwatch “due to incompatibility issues with Android Wear.” They suggested that the launch had been pushed back to September.

The Huawei Watch obtained its FCC certification last month. Not only is this required before a product can go up for sale but it also generally precedes the launch quite closely. Also promising is that external photos of the watch are now available on the FCC website.

When Huawei unveiled the Huawei Watch, it announced plans to offer it in 20 countries, including Canada and the U.S.
