Concept Sunday: Round Apple Watch Eloquent

Apple Watch Eloquent conceptWhat if Apple decided to partner with some of the big names in the traditional watch industry? What if Apple decided to offer a round smartwatch? While we’ve already seen one interpretation of the first, industrial designer Fraser Leid has tackled both with his Apple Watch Eloquent concept.

Leid starts things off with a round Apple Watch (something we’ve seen before). He then adds a few new features as improvements. The first is a rotating bezel that can work as a zoom (and presumably has other functions much like Samsung’s next watch will do). The second is a magnetic rotor to charge the watch battery while on the wearers wrist.

His last improvement is to make the new Apple Watch customizeable. Instead of a consumer selecting options though, Apple would work with companies willing to lend their names to these smartwatches to offer different models. For example, there could be Breitling, Cartier, Hublot, Patek Phillipe and Tissot Apple Watch Eloquent models to name but a few.

Each company would have a choice of two base models. The Client would offer a customizeable bezel, exchangeable bands and a range of precious metal cases. The Active sports chronograph would offer exchangeable bands and a selection of stronger case metals to withstand more active use. Both would give consumers the option to download additional custom and exclusively branded dials.

It remains to be seen if Apple or traditional watch makers will see value in cooperating in such a fashion. Would you wear a Blancpain- or Chopard-branded Apple Watch Eloquent? Let us know below.
