As widely expected and rumoured several times, LG is expanding availability of the LG G Flex, its first smartphone with a flexible display and self-healing capabilities. Initially available only in its home country of Korea, LG today announced that its LG G Flex global rollout will begin next week with launches in Singapore and Hong Kong. And LG will not stop there. Other “key markets in Asia” will be announced before the end of the year with other regions to follow next year.

The LG G Flex has captivated early adopters everywhere as the first smartphone curved to follow the contour of the human face, made possible with the implementation of the world’s first curved smartphone battery. With a durable plastic OLED (P-OLED) HD display, the G Flex also comes with a self-healing back cover that eliminates those day-to-day scratches, making it the first smartphone to incorporate such technology. These innovative features have earned LG’s latest smartphone significant praise and accolades from major media outlets worldwide.

The LG G Flex will be available for pre-order as of December 8 in Singapore. A specific launch date was not provided though. In Hong Kong, it will go on sale on December 13 through major carriers and electronics retailers.

Earlier rumours have suggested that the LG G Flex will launch in the U.S. with at least three major carriers (AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile USA). It could also launch in Germany. There is no word yet on whether the LG G Flex will make it to Canada but a U.S. launch is a promising sign.
