Concept Sunday: Apple-branded iBeats headphones

Apple iBeats headphones concept Apple this week announced plans to acquire both Beats Music and Beats Electronics for US$3 billion. While the acquisition is more than just about headphones and speakers, Apple is likely to integrate the Beats Audio brand into its own product lines. Could we see a line of iBeats accessories in the near future? That’s what CURVED/labs, the company that also envisioned an Apple iWatch built by Rolex, thinks.

The iBeats headphones are based on the very successful line of Beats Audio headphones. Key changes include Apple branding (that goes without saying) and the adoption of colour schemes to have them match with the iPhone line. There are more important changes below the skin: Apple has integrated an iPad with 128GB of storage directly into it with controls built into the left headphone. It has also added a TouchID sensor for security, a Lighting Port and support for wireless charging as well as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.

As you would expect, the iBeats headphones are fully compatible with Apple products such as the iPhone and the upcoming iWatch. A microphone lets you use Siri voice controls while you’re tethered and the Apple logo glows when you’re measuring your heartbeat.

The Beats acquisition is expected to close later this year so we could well see such Apple accessories such as these iBeats headphones hitting store shelves sometime early next year (or sooner if the acquisition closes more quickly).Apple iBeats headphones concept
