HTC M8x variant undergoing certification in Indonesia along with HTC D310w

Postel listing for HTC M8xHTC’s successor to its HTC One flagship smartphone continues to tease us ahead of its expected announcement. Known so far by its codename M8, it now appears that it may have a sibling known as the HTC M8x. The variant was spotted on Postel’s website. As usual, the Indonesian Telecoms Regulatory body reveals no details about the device but does show it as being currently undergoing certification.

With only the HTC M8x’s codename to go on, there is no way to tell how it could be different from the HTC M8. With a global launch likely, it could be that the only difference is the cellular band coverage but that’s nothing more than speculation at this point.

Speculation suggests that the HTC M8 (and M8x?) will be announced as the HTC One+ or HTC One Two, possibly around the MWC 2014 time frame. It is expected to be an upgraded version of the HTC One with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 or 805 processor, Android 4.4 KitKat, a 5-inch or larger Full HD (1080×1920) display and an improved dual-sensor UltraPixel rear camera. Unlike the HTC One, it might come with 16GB of internal storage (half of its predecessor) but add a microSD card slot.

Postel also reveals another new HTC device known as the HTC D310w. Like the HTC M8x, it is still undergoing certification. According to Blog of Mobile, it could launch in China as the HTC V1. An entry-level device, it may come with only 512MB of RAM.
