Motorola pushing Android 4.4.4 to Moto G, Moto E and DROID Ultra

Motorola Moto EMotorola yesterday announced that it has begun to roll out Android 4.4.4 KitKat to its latest smartphones. Updates are now on their way to the Moto G with Brazil and India leading the way, the Moto E across a number of countries including Canada (where it is not even on sale yet despite an expected launch in June) and the Verizon DROID Ultra in the U.S.

We’ve begun rolling out Android™ 4.4.4, KitKat® to our phones! This latest update includes all of the goodies of 4.4.3—such a new dialer, the ability to pause during video recording, and enhanced camera image quality—and includes enhanced security for OpenSSL.

Motorola promises that the update is also coming “to many more phones soon.” That should include the Moto X.

Android 4.4.4 is a small but important update that focuses on a number of security fixes, including one bug that can leave you vulnerable to a man-in-the-middle type of attack. It has already rolled out to a number of other devices, including Google’s Nexus line, a number of Sony Xperia smartphones and the Moto G GPe.

Motorola also announced an update to its Motorola Connect app which lets you read and respond to text messages via Chrome on your computer. Th new version features “a sleeker more beautiful interface (and new icon!).”
